Thanks to Jonathan's parents, we were able to spend Thanksgiving in the Smoky Mountains this year. We drove up to Waynesville on Tuesday night, arriving somewhere around 2 AM on Wednesday. I was exhausted from a couple of very long work days (trying to pack everything into the two days I was in the office) and very little sleep from packing, but the kids were so excited when we got there that they didn't want to sleep. So Wednesday I was in full zombie mode, but it was still so nice to breathe the mountain air and just take a break. And spend time with my kids. I miss them.
I found a really good coffee shop, Panacea, and sipped my coffee while watching the rain fall on the mountains. I took GOB there with me on... Saturday I think?
The cousins played and played. There was so much laughter and noise, which was good.
And occasionally it was quiet. Thanks, ipad!
On Thanksgiving Day it snowed. Just a light dusting, but enough to feel a little bit magical and fun.
The next day, we went to the newly re-opened Strand Theater downtown for a free Frozen sing-along.
After that, we granted Evelyn her wish to climb a mountain and took a hike. We saw Midnight Pool on the Big Creek Trail in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It was gorgeous.
On Saturday, we did some shopping downtown and took it easy. And then Sunday it was time to go home.
