We're still getting into the swing of things as a small conglomerate of Bartels out here on the East Coast, but we've managed to stumble into some patterns that I suppose you could even call traditions! Fancy!
One of those is Easter at Josh and Amy's place. This year we gathered for a delicious brunch and a fabulously color-matched indoor egg hunt (thanks to Aunt Abby for one and the rainy weather for the other). With a friend in the mix, we had seven adults and six kids, ranging in age from 2 through almost 7. It was as wild as can be expected.

Mouse and her pink eggs.
The eggs were filled with color-coordinated treats and prizes. The biggest hits were the balloons!
They should have had him do this in the hospital instead of that blasted incentive spirometer.

A smattering of children

After eating and hunting, we spent some time playing. They guys had to get some table top gaming in, of course.
And the kids did so well playing together, too. In just a few years they'll all be old enough to entertain one another... right?
I got some kind of crazy migraine that afternoon (the second in my life, with the first being the night before Adrian and Abby's wedding - it's Chelsea trivia!), so I took some medicine when we got home and I slept from 6 PM until 6 AM Sunday. It's probably what my body and brain needed anyway. And then I was all bright eyed and bushy tailed to make some scalloped potatoes and deviled eggs to take to our Easter celebration with the neighbors - another really great day!

Later that afternoon, Jonathan decided to try out the new mandoline slicer for himself, and proceeded to slice off the tip of his thumb. As he's still on blood thinners for the pulmonary embolism, that thumb was not going to stop bleeding. So off he went to Urgent Care where they injected him with some sort of "stop bleeding" drug and wrapped it all up (no stitches when you slice the chunk completely off so there's nothing to stitch). Poor guy just can't go a week without seeing a doctor.
And in not exactly related to Easter news, I've decided after reading through the ol' blog archives that I'm going to get back into random blogging about stuff other than just the kidlets. So that's my new goal. I've been up to all sorts of things and it'd be good to document them. Brace yourself.
