Catching up

So, I just remembered that a bunch of stuff happened in December that didn't make the blog, which was dominated by Jonathan being in and out and then in in in the hospital. So here's a recap in mostly picture form.

My mom and I took the kids to the Santa Train, where we met Adrian and Abby and the kids for some fun. It was appropriately, but not overwhelmingly, cold, which was nice.

Did you know that just like the one at Pullen Park, the Museum of Life and Science's train was made in Wichita, Kansas? Indeed it was.

I gave Evelyn a multicolored manicure.

On Friday, December 20th, Jonathan had his fourth (I think?) endoscopic debridement procedure. My mom went with him because I needed to work and it was supposed to be a simple outpatient procedure for once and so on and so forth. Turns out this was the morning where they perforated his bowel and he woke up from the procedure in excruciating pain, and spent the following month in the hospital.

I took the kids to their school's Holiday Show because Evelyn would have flipped if she missed it, and even though I was super stressed and tense the whole time, it was good.

Gideon's class sang and danced to "El Burrito" and he loved it.

Not all of his fellow Bujitos agreed.

Campbell got to play the part of the burrito. Gideon loved shaking his jingle bells and singing.

Evelyn's class, the Sapitos, did a Nutcracker performance. Because their teachers are awesome, many of them also dressed up and participated with the kids.

Ms. Arte and Clayton leading the way.

Ballerinas and Toy Soldiers entering

Getting into position

Marching

They did a tunnel at the end.

Evelyn creeping up on her friend Kieran.

The kids spent a huge part of their time with my mom (Momo) while I was at the hospital with Jonathan. They loved it, and Momo always documents everything with good pictures.

We had faspa on Christmas Eve at Adrian and Abby's house, and then went back on Christmas day for a meal and playing.

What IS this "baby" you speak of? Preposterous.

Linus playing it cool as the eldest cousin.

And... this is the only picture I took that has Evelyn in it.
*EDIT* Abby sent me a good one of Evelyn on Christmas Eve. Thanks Abby!

We did some painting to make posters for Jonathan's hospital room.

Played with dolls.

Went to the Museum of Life and Science all the time (thanks Robb and Aunt Carol!).

One of Gideon's favorite activities - jumping off the big chair. He could do it all day.

One of E's favs - origami. Incidentally, this is pretty much impossible to do with a child on your lap.

Climbing wall

Gideon was feeling shy about chatting with the alpacas.

Climbing on dinosaurs with some help from Momo.

I think that pretty much covers it. Whew.

So the Jonathan update... drumroll please... he's eating a little bit! Yay! He's looking and acting and feeling much better than he was at this time last week. Still not great, and he still has his JP drain in sucking out puss all the time. And he's still on IV nutrition. And the pulmonary embolism is still there so he's still taking Lovenox and likely will be for some time. But he put together his computer and has been playing with his friends, he put Gideon to bed tonight, and he's even currently out buying batteries for his TPN pump (why they don't let you plug this thing in is beyond me - it goes through 4 C batteries every night)! His home health nurse will come by tomorrow to change the dressing on his PICC line, and I think we're supposed to call the surgeon's PA to talk about stopping TPN soon. So we'll see. It's very slow, but it's some progress.
