We decided that August was a success as far as budgeting went, so this month we're continuing the meal planning and prepping. Some of last month's recipes were great; others were... not. Here's the plan for this month:

Can you tell chicken was on sale for $1.99 at the meat case? The butcher raised his eyebrows when I asked for 12 pounds of chicken... Don't worry, we're not eating all 12 pounds this month. I made a ton of chicken nuggets because they were a hit last month and they make a really simple and kid-pleasing dinner that I can just throw together with some broccoli and fruit and it's done. Next month I'd like to expand our vegetarian and fish horizons a bit more, but I think we're doing okay with limiting red meat a bit, so I'll take it. We're still getting the produce box, and I've been enjoying the move to the fall produce. Oh, and lunches! I nearly forgot. I made almost twice as many hand pies this month, with some variety - pizza with veggies, chicken fajita, ham and cheese, and a couple sausage for Jonathan.
After all that cooking, we did escape the house for a little while to celebrate the end of summer.
| And... here's a food-related song to wrap it all up. |
Next time I'll fill you in on some of our other happenings. There's so much to share!
