Bless You

Evelyn's pretty funny these days. It's like overnight about a week ago, the switch flipped and she woke up asking WHY. All. the. time. It gets really existential really quickly when a kid asks why, and I think of this Louis C.K. clip every time.

Lately, immediately after she sneezes, she says, "Bless you. That was my fault." Every time. I have no idea where that came from, but it cracks us up.

It's also been really fun to see the kidlets genuinely enjoying each other. Evelyn asks to play with Gideon after he goes to sleep in the evenings, and they keep each other entertained for long stretches of time without too much destruction or life endangerment. The house is, of course, usually hovering around an 8 on the 1-10 scale (with 10 being complete wreck) but such is life with a one year old and a two year old and two full-time jobs thrown in for good measure.

*************** Update: 30 While 30 ***************

I thought I'd keep you all updated on the 30 While 30 progress approximately once a month, so you can virtually tsk me if I don't meet my goals and virtually cheer when I do :) So here's the current update:
  1. Earn my mom of the year badge by hosting an elaborate birthday party for the kiddos
    • In progress: Party is on 3/17. I spend the evenings after the kids are in bed bringing my Pinterest pins to life...
  2. Get published again
    • In progress... in the very early manuscript stages. Might not happen in 2013 just because of how long it takes to get published, but I'll give it a go at submission.
  3. Lose 30 lbs.
    • 9 down, 21 to go! Turns out that losing weight is really quite simple. Not easy, but simple. Calories in must not exceed calories out.
  4. Get some pants tailored to fit right
  5. Successfully bake yeast bread from scratch
  6. Dress up for Halloween
  7. Write and mail a hand-written note to someone at least once a month
    • Grrr, I already missed February! I'm really awful at mailing things. I'll aim for 2 letters this month.
  8. Pull an awesome prank
  9. Complete my first triathlon (this one)
  10. Watch a sunrise
  11. Spend a weekend away with just Jonathan
  12. Donate blood

    • In progress: Headed to OBX for a week with a few other families in June and I cannot wait.
  18. Visit that church I've wanted to visit forever
  19. Organize the garage and purge stuff in the garage, closets, and attic (take to Goodwill)
    • In progress: We did an initial clean-up but there's still room for improvement in the organization department
  20. Join and complete my goals with the Durham County Library summer reading program
  21. Get a mani/pedi with a friend
