I need to tell you about it.

That's Evelyn's current (and first real) bedtime stall tactic. She'll give hugs and kisses, get quiet, and then say in her most earnest voice, "Mommy, I need to tell you about it." I'll ask her what she'd like to talk about, and she'll come up with one thing after another. One night it was, "Sometimes Madeline doesn't listen and Linus broke his leg." Then it was, "I want to play with Mauri" (her class monkey that goes home with a different kid each week" and "GOB's a little bit crying." Once she can't think of anything else to talk about, she'll give kisses and hugs (which involve grabbing my head and pulling to down into a sort of headlock on top of her to make sure I can't leave), and eventually say "love you night night" and that's that.

Gratuitous picture of Evelyn and Mauri painting some pumpkins for a class art project.

That's what Keaton does, too. He'll say, "Mommy, I need something." I will ask him what he needs, and he'll say, "I need YOU." (Ugh.. heartstrings...) and then he'll do the headlock. It must be in the Kid Code.
