Thank you SO MUCH!

Some fun things happening around our house. Here's today's brain dump. One day I'll write some sort of topical, coherent blog post again. One day.

Evelyn has been really into saying, "Thank you SO MUCH" lately. This morning I grabbed her shirt out of the clean laundry pile (on the floor, of course - you don't keep your clean laundry in piles on the floor and then sometimes wonder whether the clean and dirty have comingled and either take your chances or wash everything in a fit of frustration? I digress). So yes, I grabbed her shirt from the clean laundry pile, tossed it over to her with instructions to put it on, and she got the biggest smile and said "Thank you SO MUCH, Mommy!" She cracks me up. She's said several other noteworthy things today, but of course I've already forgotten them.

Time just vanishes between 4 and 8 PM. Leave work, get kids, get Jonathan, drive home, potty, dinner, potty, playing, potty, picking up, potty, teeth, potty, jammies, books, songs, screaming children, soothing, screaming children, soothing, sleeping children. And then we catch our breath.

Or, if it's Monday, Wednesday, or Friday, Jonathan gets to do all that while I go to boot camp and try not to die. He's the best.

Gideon is growing, growing, growing. He's everywhere he wants to be, and this weekend's project is lowering the bed down in his crib. He's been able to pull up to standing for a while, but he hasn't done it consistently enough for it to be a problem. The past two nights, though, we've put him to bed and minutes later we hear some babbling and go in to find him standing up in his crib, smiling away, and absolutely not going to sleep. He's so going to be like his father, who fought sleep all the time as a kid. (Hard to believe now. In fact, when we were at our weekly lunch *just the two of us* yesterday, I decided I'm getting Jonathan a shirt that says "I'd rather be sleeping" and he said it is quite accurate, and I need to take a picture of him sleeping in this shirt).

And me? Not much is new. Working and waiting waiting waiting waiting for my advisor to give me the go-ahead to schedule my dissertation defense. It should be the week of October 22nd, but with each passing day without the green light to schedule, I worry more about coordinating the schedules of my committee members for said defense meeting. Nothing I can do but wait and wait and wait and hope that it all works out at this point.
