We have been on the receiving end of some serious diaper love over the past two years. First, Jonathan's family threw us a surprise Christmas diaper shower where we got a good initial stock built up. Then Jonathan's mom got us a bunch, I scored a bag full of bumGenius diapers on FreeCycle, and two different friends sent us bonus diapers that weren't working for them. We also got a handful of girly pink diapers from Jonathan's cousin. And if you're talking about useful baby gifts, these diapers are right up there at the top of the heap. They might even tie my all-time favorite - meals after baby is born.
Tonight is the first time I've actually had all of the diapers clean and assembled at once. Usually Evelyn is wearing one of course, and then there's a pail needing washing and a few extras at daycare. But since I hit the 37-weeks pregnant mark we've had E in disposables so I don't have to worry about heading off to the hospital and letting a pail of diapers linger for a week without washing. As such, we were able to do the great diaper inventory of 2012 and we discovered that we have amassed a collection of 48! Most of them are one-size, either all-in-ones or pockets. As you can see, we have almost the full spectrum of colors. I think we could do some work in the purple department. We'll probably be ordering a few more, since we have to send at least 5 to school per day for each kid (laws require them to change diapers at least every 2 hours), and because infants can use up to like 10 per day if I remember right?
But it's pretty cool to see them all clean and organized and ready for more... pee and poop. :) They're going to be working hard for both kiddos over the next year or so (I'm in no rush to potty train while simultaneously trying to convince myself to finish the dissertation, so apologies to Evelyn if I'm doing something weird to her development).
