6:00 - Wake up. Don't give self the option of staying in bed. Teeth, clothes, ponytail, go.
6:15 - Prius is parked in front of Fit in the driveway. No time for this! Back out on the grass, bypassing the Fit because I'm short on time and need to get to school early to do a reading intervention with a kiddo.
6:16 - Fuel light is on.
6:25 - Stop at gas station on the way to work. Realize I've left my wallet at home. Turn around.
6:45 - Stop at another gas station, after retrieving wallet. Abandon all hope of arriving at work in time to read with kiddo as promised. Vow not to speed to make up lost time, as a ticket would only make things worse.
8:00 - 3:30 - At work. Actually pretty successful and relatively competent today, which is always a plus.
3:30 - After a good meeting, leave school with a spring in my step. I'll get home in time to cook a decent dinner for the family!
3:35 - Call Jonathan and discuss buying a breastpump that is on sale for today only at a local store. Determine that we can use our health savings account to do so, and the savings is worth the extra trip it'll take me to stop by his work to grab our HSA debit card since I lost mine before I ever even activated it... But that's another story.
4:45 - Get the card from Jonathan and head to the store to procure pump, which they're holding for me. It's the last one in stock for the sale price!
5:30 - Arrive at shop. Curse the pouring rain and everyone's horrible driving, and the GPS for taking me to some random field and calling it my destination thus forcing me to figure out how to get there all by myself.
5:40 - Card declined. Run back to the car in the pouring rain to call Jonathan, as phone is dead and will only work if plugged into the running car. Ask Jonathan what is going on. Decide to call card company to get our balance. Call them. Balance is well over what the pump costs. Ask to talk to a real person, and phone cuts out right when someone answers after I've been on hold. Give up on that route and decide to see if the store will try to run it again.
5:45 - Card declined for a second time. Try, in vain, to explain to the lady that I really do have money in the account, I swear. Ask if they take checks - they do! And alas, our HSA checkbook is at home. Kind lady takes pity on me and says they'll hold it through tomorrow at the sale price.
6:30 - Arrive home. All is better once I get to snuggle my curly-headed Mouse and Jonathan makes some delicious comfort food (creamed chipped beef on toast) for dinner.
So there are my first-world problems for ya. Just one of those long days. But in the end it's alright. We're going to pick up the pump tomorrow on our way to Jonathan's company Christmas party. Good, efficient pumps are just ridiculously expensive but luckily they're often covered by health accounts and sometimes health insurance will even give you a break on the price (not our plan, but check yours if you're in the market)!
Two months from today, Baby Dos is due! Let's keep our fingers crossed that (s)he stays in the oven for the full 40 weeks because there is so much to do between now and then!
