Book Reports

So, one of my summer goals was to read some books for fun. I am happy to report that I have not read one single journal article all summer. Typing that does, in fact, make me feel a little guilty and antsy that I've missed some sort of huge breaking news in the school psych research world, but I'll just have to wait until September to catch up. I can't break the streak now!

Anyhow, I was all about reading for pleasure until I became all about hanging out with my buddy the emesis basin (if you follow that link, you'll note that this is really not the ideal vomit receptacle, but nevertheless it is always the thing I'm offered when I'm in any medical setting and I need to spew. Which has to make you think of this scene from Wayne's World).

Back to the good stuff, though. Reading. (Although I have, in fact, read while throwing up. I was trying to distract myself and I grabbed this book you'll usually find in our bathroom just to try to get my mind off the retching.)

Here are the books I've fully read this summer. I thought I'd spare you the "partial" list which includes those I started but lost interest in, those I only read key chapters from, etc.

Baby Catcher - Peggy Vincent

An Exact Replica... - Elizabeth McCracken

Three Cups of Tea - Greg Mortenson and David Oliver Relin

Room - Emma Donoghue

The Help - Kathryn Stockett

Bossypants - Tina Fey

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo - Stieg Larsson

The Girl Who Played with Fire - Stieg Larsson

And there you have it. I liked all of them, of course... The books I wasn't so fond of are on the partial list. So I'd recommend all of these books. Next up is the third in the Millenium series (Stieg Larsson), The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. We're just waiting for it to come out in paperback.

Phew
, I finally got caught up on that list. Now we can get back to the usual around these parts. Evelyn is approaching the 17 month mark, and the teeny baby B is creeping up on 13 weeks in the oven.
