Snail soup?

Baila con tu amigitos!

Tonight Evelyn performed with her class in the school's International Festival. It was more of a Latin Festival. All of the school staff dressed up in costumes related to their countries of origin and the classes all performed songs and dances from different countries. Then we all feasted on food from all over the world.

I had a feeling Evelyn might like the singing and dancing, just based on her teachers' reports of how much she was enjoying all of the practices the classes did in the past few weeks. And enjoy it she did! As soon as the music started, Evelyn was moving around to the beat. Not long after that, she stood up to really get into it (whose child is this with the dancing proclivity?!) and then she grabbed some drumsticks and played the drum a little just for good measure.

I caught the end of her song, just as she realized that drumsticks were great for playing music, but would be even better for eating.

The song that Evelyn's class (Los Abejitos) performed was about snail soup. Or... snails taking a bath... at least I think snails were in there somewhere. My translation skills clearly leave something to be desired. Either way, it was a fun song and the wee ones seemed to like it.

After her song and dance, Evelyn wanted to spend most of the time walking around. So did a bunch of other older kids, and she loved that. Whenever one would zip past her, she would just grin from ear to ear. She must have been thinking of her cousin Linus.

In other school-related events, they recently had a science fair and my heart was all aflutter when I saw her class's display with big cards advertising phrases like "hypotheses" and "analysis" and such... Upon closer inspection they were just teacher bulletin board decorations strewn about all willy-nilly. Perhaps 13 months is just a smidge too young for the scientific method? Evelyn and her friends were just adorable in the pictures of the science projects they did (making gooey dough, coloring water, some other stuff I can't recall).

And finally, the mouse fell and smacked her nose on a table at school today and got a little battle scar to prove it. Welcome to toddlerhood.
