Our Mouse is ten months old (yesterday)! Here's her Top Ten:
10. She is still a little bit skeptical and only gives her biggest, most carefree smiles to her cousin Linus. She will smile more in general when watching toddlers of any age, though. She's in awe of them.
9. She waves when we say hola, hello, bye-bye, or adios. Sometimes this takes some modeling, but sometimes it's just automatic. I love it the most when she's nursing early in the morning and I look down and say really softly, "Hi, sweet Evelyn" and she gives me a little wave while she eats.
8. She will do her little commando crawl (belly on the floor, pulling with her arms and pushing with her legs) to get anywhere she wants to be. This generally means that she'll leave whatever room I leave her in for a second and come find me cooking in the kitchen or doing laundry in the hallway.
7. She has her first piece in her school's art show this week. It's titled "Flor" and is in the "dactilopintura" style popular with the youth.
6. She is a total ham for our photographer. She was super grumpy at her 9-month meeting with Christina but still she decided to throw out some poses. (Seriously... we didn't put her in this position at all. We had her sitting up and she just put herself down on the floor and then vogue-d it.)
5. She'll eat just about anything, any time.
4. She loves straws and she'll drink through them. This makes life super easy when we find ourselves out for lunch with no sippy cup in sight.
3. She's started to let us know exactly what she wants, sometimes throwing micro-hissy fits if we take away something she was dead set on playing with (just the usual suspects... scissors, sewing needles, electical cords...)
2. Still no teeth!
1. It's super cheesy, but good grief we love this baby. I caught a little bit of that show "Say Yes to the Dress" this week and this girl's mom was crying at seeing her daughter find a wedding dress and I was holding Evelyn and I just started crying. I'm overcome with love. I have to hang on to these feelings to get me through the toddler years. And the adolescent years.
