Tip of the Hat

My mom taught me to crochet ages ago. I've made scarves, throw blankets, giant queen-sized blankets, misshapen washcloths... you name it. But for some reason, hats were always intimidating. Until this week. I faced my fear of the hat and am happy to report that there's been no turning back. Since Saturday, I've finished four hats. Yep, a hat a day.

I had every intention of doing school stuff tonight, but I got a last-minute request from Jonathan to whip up a hat for a co-worker's baby shower... tomorrow. So we actually looked at patterns and yarn and buttons together and came up with my favorite hat so far.

So here's a tip of the hat to my mom, for teaching me to crochet. To Kelli and Marlo for encouraging me to go forth into the world of hats (and Ravelry), to Terry for the skype crochet tutoring. And to Jonathan for keeping track during all parts that involve careful stitch-counting. He's a stickler for that sort of thing and my hats would be completely misshapen without him.

I am so proud and I curl up every night under a gigantic blanket that you gave me for Christmas some years ago. Thousands of knots - all tied by you.
You do fine work, Chels. I love this little red hat and will probably have to get some lessons from you, now. xox
