We're getting there! We removed the third, bottom shelf in the laundry nook because it was going to be a tight fit with the washer and dryer up on pedestals. We sanded and primed and painted the other two shelves a light gray and then primed and painted the laundry nook a darker gray with some blue undertones. After two coats all around, the painting is completed! The bi-fold doors are also gone, at least for now. We are still considering the comments and trying to decide the best route for doors to our nook (or curtains, which are still appealing to me).
The appliances will be delivered on Saturday and then we can take some "after" pictures. I have some of these metal baskets from Target, and I'm going to spray-paint some other baskets I already had and use those on the top shelf. I probably won't have the big glass jars, which would be heavy and hard to reach on that shelf being so far back and high up compared to little old me. Plus we'll have storage in the pedestals below the washer and dryer so I suppose I will put detergent there. We'll see how it works. So the various baskets will hold clothespins, laundry supplies, lint brushes, the iron... and probably some other random "storage" stuff on the top shelf in the solid baskets that you won't see - candles that need to be stored in a temperature-controlled place (learned that one after removing a blob of wax from the attic...), decorations, etc.
Right now we're working on the living room, which is getting some nice coats of chocolate brown and a lighter latte color as well. Photos to come!
