Today

... was a very busy day.

Evelyn and I took Jonathan to work, which was pretty scary for me since I haven't driven in a week and I haven't ever driven with her and she's so so so tiny back there in her seat while I'm up front! We have a mirror set up so we can see her from the driver's seat, but still I was on edge a little.

Then we had our morning feeding time. Evelyn latched on and stayed on for about 10 minutes, which was a big accomplishment and made me really happy.

After that, I had to get both of us ready for the baby shower that Jonathan's work was hosting at lunchtime. You'd think it wouldn't be too difficult given that I had about 2 and a half hours to get us dressed, fed, and ready to go. But feeding sessions take quite a while and we were scrambling to leave on time. Luckily, we made it.

The baby shower at Jonathan's work was for us and for another guy on his team and his wife, who are expecting their first baby in about a month. It was actually kinda nice that Evelyn came early, because we got a TON of girly little clothes as a result! Had she come on time, I'm betting we'd be overloaded with green and yellow everything at this point. But now we have a healthy dose of pink for sure. His co-workers are just incredibly generous and we were really happy to have the shower. (Even Olive got her own gift of organic treats and a card and invitation to play with another dog because she's been sad since Evelyn came into the family. Isn't that sweet? He works with some good people.)

Jonathan decided to work from home in the afternoon due to my emergency dentist apponitment, so we all headed back to the house. I had to get in a feeding session (feed, finger-feed, pump, clean up... etc.) and then go to the dentist. Once again, I was pressed for time and a bit frazzled. By the time I got to the dentist's office, my brain was most certainly mush and I couldn't answer basic questions like when I was there last. But - good news! I didn't need a crown after all. He just had to remove an old filling and re-fill and reshape the molar.

Now it is time for some water and a nap - two things I have not been getting nearly enough of.

Tomorrow my goal is to rest as much as is humanly possible. And that is all.
