Three, oh, it's a... number...

The next ten weeks of this little blog will probably be focused exclusively on these three things.

One:

School/Work. It began again. I am doing a 150 hour school-based practicum again this semester, with the same fantastic supervisor and in a new fantastic school. I'll focus more on consultation activities this semester, like working with teachers to come up with plans for kids and helping to support them as they collect data and implement plans and
such. The change is that the on-campus part of supervision is led by a different prof this semester and this new prof likes to make us do lots and lots of extra work. I don't think it's really necessary, but I don't have much say in the matter. I'm also taking Personality Assessment and Academic Assessment. And there's that pesky dissertation thing... The big bonus is that I get to see my school friends again and they keep me sane. And at least one of my profs is quite understanding and kind about the whole baby deal, which will help to keep me sane as well. As for Work... I'm still working in the Psychoeducational Clinic at school, where I'm now learning the ropes of scheduling clients and answering their questions and such. It has been making my brain sore this week, and I feel like I'm in slow motion trying to figure things out. But it's good to learn new things and time goes by pretty quickly. I'm working with another grad student to run a couple of weekly study skills meetings for the young'uns of the world, and I work with a couple of college students on organizational issues and the like. Then there's the occasional testing case and all that... should be good... keeps me busy.

Two:

House. We've completed our first mortgage loan application and we're told that there shouldn't be a problem getting us pre-approved, or a good faith estimate, or whatever they call it. They just have to verify some stuff first. Jonathan thinks they need to verify that I really make so little money and have so much student loan debt - they must b
e shocked. We're looking at houses pretty much all over the place, provided they meet some minimum criteria like having a nice front porch, three bedrooms, and not being in one of those communities where you have to pay fees and keep your grass cut to 2.16 inches and such. So off we go into the world of acquiring more debt and the American dream!

Three:

Baby. We're 10 weeks from the due date. That's a bit frightening. I had my last glucose test today and I think it'll be fine but even if it's not, at least I don't have to do it again! Those long tests are brutal. Jonathan and I celebrated my survival with a nice lunch.
Birth class went well this week. A couple of doulas came to teach us some more tips and tricks for second stage labor (the actual having the baby stage). We had all sorts of props – tennis balls in a sock, flax and lavender heating bags (thanks mom!), a men’s comb, exercise ball, twin size flat sheet, lemon meyer lotion from Williams Sonoma… and of course Jonathan’s hands to do things like the head squeeze and the hip squeeze. Two people in our class are about a week away from their due dates, so it’s pretty exciting to see them and talk to them about what’s going on. We’re the second-to-last couple due in the class. Oh I forgot to fill you in on one of the most disturbing classes, the postpartum class, during which we were treated to actual photos of blood clots that came post-partum. Did you know that clots up to LEMON SIZE are normal?! There is nothing normal about a lemon-sized blood clot if you ask me. But I guess the shrinking, healing uterus would disagree. I may or may not fill you in on those sorts of details after Baby B comes, so brace yourself.

... and if that's not enough to keep me busy for the next 10 weeks, I don't know what is. Take care, kind readers!

Definitely not me! And I'd bet that it's photoshopped.

LEMON sized?!?! I hope that 1) our birthing class skips that part, and 2) that doesn't happen to either of us!! I would honestly probably pass out in the bathroom. Ugh!!!!

I missed your blogs recently- good to hear what you're up to! With all the things going on right now, the next 10 weeks are probably going to FLY! Hang in there!! ;)

Maybe in your spare time you could take up Cribbage or something...
: )
I agree with Ashley - the next 10 weeks are going to FLY by! G'luck and "You Go! Girl." I have no doubt that you'll pull all this off with your usual grace and good humor.
AND, then we'll get to read about it!
yay!
