I took my wedding band and engagement in today to get cleaned and checked and plated so they're all shiny and new before Kim's wedding in a couple weeks. Odd timing perhaps, since it means I'll be band-less on our second anniversary. And odd timing because I dropped the rings off before stopping in at the maternity store... making the whole experience of shopping in said store extra weird.
First, I think I was the only one in the place (including the salesperson helping me) who was not clearly, visibly pregnant.
Second, I was the only one going solo. One poor husband was tagging along, as were many a mother and sister and friend of the preggo ladies. Combine this solo status with the lack of a ring and I had to wonder what the other women were thinking (probably not much, since people are generally more preoccupied with themselves than to be bothered by these trivialities in another person, but hey... I noticed)
So let me just say... I might be the only one, but I thought the maternity clothes were ADORABLE! Really cute stuff. And it all looks comfortable. So free in the belly area, no annoying clasps digging in, plenty of room for the chest. Very nice. I left the creepy "7 month belly" strap-on fake tummy on the shelf in the fitting room and quickly left with my full-panel jeans, shirt, and bella band so I can wear my current pants for a while longer.

In describing full-panel jeans to Jonathan, he seemed appropriately shocked and amazed. They are really quite odd, but I just couldn't do the "demi panel" or "real waist" options and see how they would possibly stay on, so I went full panel. Might as well go all the way with this pregnancy bit, no? I am concerned about the amount of elastic in everything I tried on today, but I guess that's how it works if you want it to fit through the second and third trimesters - which they promised me these items would. We'll see!
They gave me a gift bag and I was hoping for something good, like, oh... a granola bar, a preggo pop, a coupon for a lifetime supply of chocolate... but alas, I got a sample of Preparation H and some lotion. Gee... thanks?
