I think things have been so hectic for us lately that it's honestly difficult for me to remember what has been going on. But a few things stand out.
We went to our first NHL game on Wednesday night to see the North Carolina Hurricanes take on the Buffalo Sabres. Thanks to Jonathan's boss, we had some amazing seats - center ice, six rows back. We were in the middle of the action and it was so much fun, even without knowing much about hockey (e.g., I knew that the puck goes in the net to make a goal... and that's about it. Somehow Jonathan had surprising amounts of hockey knowledge that he kindly passed along). The game went into overtime and then a shootout, and the 'Canes came out on top with a final score of 2 to 1. As an aside, there was a group of high school guys sitting behind us and I overheard them talking about the Civil War. One of them said that he felt sorry for the South during the War. Aaah, the South.
Also on Wednesday night, we did not win the Powerball lottery. Earlier that day, Jonathan said, "What will we do if we don't win the lottery?" to which I replied, "If winning the lottery is Plan A, then we're in trouble." After our loss, we returned to this conversation and came to an agreement that winning the lottery might be Plan A, but it's okay if we don't because Plan B is to buy another lottery ticket. Circular reasoning for the win?
We also did not win the lottery yesterday, though to be fair, we didn't try.
Our favorite accountant ever worked her tax-time magic for us again and we'll be getting some our hard-earned money back this year, so we stopped in at Best Buy yesterday to drool on our future TV. I also hit up Babies 'R Us for some baby shower gifts yesterday, and I had the overwhelmed, slightly ill feeling I get in Wal-Mart. I think the place is poorly laid-out, kinda messy, overcrowded, and full of stuff that no one really needs. Then again, maybe I'll love it when I'm a parent? It was just too much for me.
So that was our week in a nutshell. Jonathan's been working long days and I've been trying to keep my head above water in school.
Tonight we're off to play some games and, I hope, to watch the snow start to fall and accumulate so that maybe Jonathan will get a snow day tomorrow!
