Odds and Ends.

What's been happening around here, you ask?

School. The amount of sleep that I get is of course inversely related to the amount of work my professors require of me. Then throw in a healthy dose of procrastination, and it's clear why this has been a rough week. I'm thankful that I've managed to tread water and that the semester will end in a little over a week. There is good news on the dissertation front, in that I've kinda sorda maybe started to decide on a direction. For the curious, I'll most likely be looking at relational communication within the context of conjoint behavioral therapy - or within the context of prereferral intervention teams; with a focus on parent participation and communication patterns. If you're still super curious, you can go here and refer to the top search result for an overview of the area. (That's an article based on a dissertation from a student working with my advisor a few years back.)

Work. Jonathan is currently in Dalls for two days of training. He's also looking at some training in SQL sometime this Spring - though that will likely be a little bit closer to home. We're both grateful every day that he has a job, and one that at least seems to be pretty immune to the recession. Next weekend is his company's holiday party at The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. I'm not sure if there will be a chance to explore the museum at all, but if there is then I'll be stoked to see thier current exhibition of the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Adding to our family. Yep! You heard it here first!

We're getting a Beagle. (Did I trick anyone there? Gotta keep you all on the edge of your seats.) The Triangle Beagle Rescue approved us for adoption, and also informed us that they're getting two five-week old female beagles this week! We're getting pretty excited to meet our little pup, and reading all the Caesar Milan we can handle in the meantime. We're also planning to add to our growing furniture collection with the purchase of a ginormous sofa from Ikea sometime this Spring. I'm sure you'll see a series of posts about this life-changing purchase in the future.

This weekend, Jonathan and I plan to check out the Chelsea Theater in Chapel Hill, because I mean really with a name like that it has to be awesome. We're going to see Rachel Getting Married, which we've both wanted to see for a while. I'm a bit nervous about the premise, but I've heard it's good... we'll see.

Congrats on the beagle, and yes - you did indeed trick me, quite nicely.
Enjoy the party at the museum. That should be a blast.
And know that I'll be seeing you in just something like 20 days.
XOXO

Yay! A new addition to the family. I'm so excited. All the fun of a puppy without any work (for us anyway).

Lucky you... going to a corporate holiday party. IBM has put an end to those (I believe) and even if not, there's no way Adrian would go.
