So there's this thing about Jonathan.
He wins.
One week when we were in high school, he won tickets to the season opening game of our local ice-hockey team, The Thunder. Then we went to a prospective student dinner hosted by the K-State recruiting people and he won a drawing for tickets to the K-State Nebraska game. And to finish it off, he won a $100 gift certificate to Wendy's (he treated lots of friends to lunch the next week). That was just one week of winning in Jonathan's life.
(As a sidebar regarding the K-State vs. Nebraska game, it wasn't just any game. It was THE K-State/Nebraska game. The November 2000 game. The one where it was freezing, and it snowed at the end of the game. The one where K-State beat Nebraska 29 to 28. I was so excited about this game that I wrote an essay about it and won a scholarship. I'm still so excited about it that I'll link you to a dramatic montage set to emotionally-charged music. It was THAT good.)
But back to Jonathan's tendency to win...
After we bought our Prius, we went to a little "new car owner" class at the dealership where they were giving away a few prizes, including a TV. As we wrote our names on slips of paper and threw them into the hat, Jonathan said something to the effect of, "Here's the winner of the TV." He usually does this - declares himself the winner before the drawing. And of course he won the TV.

Every time he wins, we both laugh and I probably roll my eyes and shake my head. Onlookers perhaps think we're not excited. We are... it's just that... I mean, really? How does he do this? I'm sure there are a handful of wins that I'm not chronicling here because I just can't remember them all.
So yesterday as I was staring at Jonathan's phone willing it to ring with news of a job, it rang! And he answered and smiled and nodded his head and gave me a high-five and I was unbelievably excited. A JOB! But see, I had forgotten that he registered for this huge Sesame Street gift basket at the New Balance store while we were out shopping over the weekend. Of course, he won it.
Linus was happy.
