For our second day of Marathon Training, we followed the same workout as our first day. We added four sprints to the end of the workout, just to make sure our muscles didn't think they were getting a break. We made it a bit further - to the Farmer's Market in Central Park. And we counted 19 rabbits. I have had a headache all day and I am desperately waiting for my Enell to arrive, just in case you were wondering. It's magical.
Not much other news. You'll be getting these training reports quite often. Feel free to play along, and show up at the Outer Banks in November ready to run.
Oh yeah - how not to negotiate a salary? So I was going to do some nannying this summer - looks like it won't really work out since I insist on taking a week "off" (from my busy days of doing nothing, of course... awesome) to go to the beach and I won't work when school starts. Anyhow, the potential employer asked me what I charge per hour. Now, it's been years since I did any babysitting/nannying. And I haven't exactly had awesome jobs - the most I've ever made hourly is around $11 to work with preschoolers with severe emotional and behavioral problems... So it went like this:
ME: Oh, eleven or twelve dollars is fine.
POTENTIAL EMPLOYER: That's great! I paid my last girl $15.
ME: Okay...
And in my mind, I was thinking "ELEVEN OR TWELVE?! WHO SAYS THAT?" I'm not sure if she planned on giving me $15, like the last girl, and I just lowered her cost... or if she'd give me at least $15? It's a mystery.
I'm a learn it firsthand kind of girl, so I guess it now makes sense to me why giving a range (and a one-dollar range at that) on a desired salary isn't exactly effective. Now I know.
