I've been a teensy bit worried this week. My bloodwork revealed low levels of vitamin D, which has been linked to a five-fold increased risk of preeclampsia in at least one study. In fact, one of the lead researchers said "Our results showed that maternal vitamin D deficiency early in pregnancy is a strong, independent risk factor for preeclampsia." Fantastic.
So of course, when I'm not hanging my arms out the car windows to get more sun or choking down the 4000 IUs of vitamin D I'm now taking, I voice my worries to Jonathan. He tells me not to worry so much, and that we'll deal with whatever comes.
Today as we were driving home, out of blue I asked:
"What if it's born with one leg?"
To which he responded:
"Then we'll buy it a peg-leg and call it a pirate."

I love this guy.

Isn't it ironic that at a time in your life when you want the least anxiety, there is SO much to worry about! Jo from Dixie is on the money. And for the record, my pre-eclampisa showed up in week 35. The solution...delivery. Even 4 1/2 weeks early, Jackson was a healthy 5 lbs. 13 oz. and (knock on wood) hasn't had anything more than a runny nose in his whole 9 months. You and your little guy/girl will be just fine!
