Wide Open Bluegrass

The Wide Open Bluegrass festival in Raleigh was most excellent. On Friday night I went downtown with Emily and Calvin after work and stood on a planter with some Sweet Josie Brown and a clear view of Chatham County Line. It was perfect.

On Saturday (after work, of course), the whole fam headed down to take in the festivities. Evelyn was itching to dance, and she was fully immersed the second we let her go for it while listening to some music at the Youth Stage. Later, we visited the dance tent and she was a bit more hesitant there, but she still had fun.

We were all fully exhausted by the time we got home, which made for an easy bedtime all around. The only things I think I'd change about the festival? Increase the presence of local food trucks (is Raleigh still being ridiculous about its truck restrictions or something?), increase the presence of craft beer, and have some kind of guide for the less well-versed in bluegrass, like "If you like Chatham County Line, try these shows!"

I'm still super tired from the weekend and life in general, so I'll leave you with a conglomeration of pictures. Enjoy.

You are the dancing queen.

Did I mention Jonathan's new hairstyle?

Passed out in on the way to the festival.

Hanging out with Wyatt and Paige in the dance tent.
