Pass me an eye eraser?

Because I just looked up how much I'm going to owe for my education.

Let's just say there are many, many figures in that number.

And now I'm thankful that the planets were not able to align for me to graduate this semester, so technically I won't graduate until December. It means we have to pay for another semester of school (boo) but it also means that my loans get to say in their happy little deferment land until July of 2013 (yay).

I'm just hoping that by the time my kidlets are thinking about college, either we've figured out how to fund education...

...or at least maybe enough time will have passed that I will have forgotten this moment and I will dreamily tell them that getting a college degree is worth it.

I will say that I think one of the things we do poorly in this country is push a college for everyone approach and I wish we'd get more excited about vocational tracks in high school and for college. The traditional four (or, *cough* eleven *cough*) year degree doesn't need to be a requirement for success. And often it really isn't. Anyhow I'm not being super coherent here so I'll let you go, dear readers, and bask in the sweet schadenfreude.
