Unlike the first time around, this time I was super prepared with packing for the hospital. I had an excel spreadsheet going two months before delivery, with lists of stuff to pack for me, Jonathan, Baby Dos, and then a separate list for Evelyn with what to pack for her stay with my friend. I left no item unconsidered for inclusion. Of course there were clothes, cell phones, a laptop, Arrested Development DVDs, our own soft bath towels from home, and many tubes of Burt's Bees lip balm. But there were also a few items that I found were really essential for a variety of reasons.
I splurged on an organic cotton hospital gown from Hot Mama Gowns. Even though I wore it for a grand total of something like 4 hours, I still don't regret the purchase. I had pre-washed it and it was soft, didn't smell like hospital, and gave really good coverage all-around while still allowing all the access the nurses and docs needed for things like the blood pressure cuff, IVs, etc.
I wasn't sure whether I'd use it, but I threw in a little makeup bag and took my hair dryer. And I thanked myself repeatedly for doing so. When I took a shower and could then dry my hair and not feel all frizzy crazy, I was happy. When I could put on some makeup after I recovered from the many breakdowns I had in crazytown (aka the NICU), I was happy.
I brought my own very soft and warm throw blanket, as well as my favorite pillows in their colorful, high threadcount cases. Comfort.
My trusty red Camelbak was there again, full of gatorade and ice - this time to help me as I recovered from the ridiculously fast labor.
I had my "Calm Labor" playlist rocking all during labor, delivery, and recovery both in L&D and down in the Maternity ward. The music was calming and made me smile.
So that's my take on the packing list for this time around. I'd recommend over-packing to any expectant mom, because you never know what you'll want when you're in the hospital. You also never know how long you'll be there, so be sure to throw in a few extra pairs of underwear.

or I have something to add to the conversation. Usually it's triggered by the fire communicated in the article I looked at. And after this article "The Packing List: Round Two". I was excited enough to drop a thought ;) I do have 2 questions for you if you don't mind.
Could it be just me or does it give the impression like a few of the comments look like they are written by brain dead visitors?
:-P And, if you are posting on additional social sites, I'd like to keep up with anything new you have to post. Could you make a list every one of your social sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
