Out and About

Yesterday, we decided to spend some time at Marbles, our local kids' museum, before our membership expires next month. Evelyn even offered to drive.

It was me, MeeMaw, Linus, and Evelyn. And because those two short people don't move at the same pace through the museum, most of the day it was me and Evelyn in one place and Linus and MeeMaw in another.

As usual, Evelyn was very interested in all things water. Upon realizing that this sink in the pretend vet clinic was not actually functional, she was not a happy camper. So we had to quickly make our way to the water play area, where she was appeased until I made her stop drinking the chlorinated water. Mom the fun-killer strikes again!

We moved on to sailing a pirate ship.

Then we almost caught up with Linus and MeeMaw, but they disappeared around a corner so we decided to do some snacking and people-watching instead.

Re-energized, it was time to head upstairs to the sports area. Linus showed Evelyn the basketball hoop that was just her size and she loved it.

The cousins tried out some gymnastics equipment and then surfed together for a while.

There were also multiple cool little interactive displays by Duke students involving bubbles, so we checked those out for a while. Evelyn and I waited in line forever for her to stand inside a bubble (where they raise up a hula-hoop sized bubble around you). She got the safety goggles on and stood in the center and then just when they were about to raise the bubble around her, she panicked and wanted me to hold her. We'll have to try that one another time.

Marbles was fun, and packed, as always! We'll probably be switching our membership to the Museum of Life and Science in Durham for this coming year, since it's closer and has free parking and lots more outside stuff. I think it will keep Evelyn busy as she grows, and they still have stuff for the super wee ones like Gideon too. We're pretty lucky to have these places nearby!
