Halloween

This is the only picture I have of her in costume. I might have to stage some costume pics this weekend to make up for that... (And thanks Abby and Adrian for taking this one!)

Well... we tried! Evelyn and Jonathan usually get home around 6, and it's time to sit down for dinner, play a little, brush teeth, get into jammies, read, sing, and sleep by 7 at the latest. That's not us forcing her to go to sleep by any means - the kid is exhausted by 7 PM. So when trick-or-treating started around 6:30, you can guess what a tired toddler thought of the whole thing.

We went out with Linus, Adrian, and Abby this year and Linus did his best to show Evelyn the ropes but she was pretty shy about everything. Eventually, with coaxing from all the adults and Linus, she was able to walk up to a few houses and get some candy. But by the end of the evening she was ready to collapse.

Her favorite part? Watching Linus, of course! She mostly wanted to be carried by me or Adrian, and she would just stare and wait for Linus the mummy to come back from his many trips to and from houses. When she spotted him returning, she'd get her giant smile and start to giggle. We visited for a bit at their house after the trick-or-treating was through and Evelyn was content to shuffle around the house in her PJs and laugh at everything Linus did. I love seeing how much she loves him, and how he'll do tricks and show her cool big kid stuff.

So that was Evelyn's second Halloween. Next year I think she'll have more of a feel for what it's all about. And by that I mean she'll be able to score more candy for mom. ;)
