Bootcamp: Halfway In

Well, I still haven't missed a session of bootcamp. It's going pretty well. I really like Coach Colin, who is the perfect mix of encouraging and challenging. We do all kinds of different workouts and every time it's a struggle but I feel so good after it's over. I don't think there has been a day yet that hasn't involved some ridiculously high number of air squats. Those might look simple, but no. They are not. Like many people who sit hunched over the computer all day, I am short on thoracic spine mobility and as a result, I throw my weight forward when I'm squatting. So now I get to do all sorts of thoracic spine exercises twice a day at home to try to improve my mobility so I can knock out the squats in good form. The people in my class are also incredible. We cheer for each other and we push each other through every workout.

I'm thinking about signing up for another session (through July/August) but this stuff's not free so I'm going to think a little longer and see about it. It's definitely a good way to spend my spending money... but I also want a haircut and semi-professional clothes to wear to internship every day so we'll have to find a balance somewhere.

In other general news, we're all doing well. I'm working on the garden a little every day, Evelyn is enjoying her short stints at school to keep up with her Spanish skills ;) and Jonathan is counting down the hours until we go on vacation. Today we're going to level a section of the backyard to accommodate our little swimmin' hole (they really aren't kidding when they say it needs to be on perfectly level ground... learned that the hard way). Evelyn and I are thinking about heading out for breakfast to kill time until Jonathan wakes up to help with the yard. And that's about it. Thrilling, I know!
