The Challenge: Week 2

Some weeks are better when they're over. Like, oh, say... week two of the Bartel Challenge. I was thrust back into school, our schedules were all out of whack, Jonathan made this delicious "Lighter General Tso's Chicken" with half the meat and double the veggies. That last one should probably be a good thing, but it's bad news when it's so delicious that between the two of us we at the whole thing (4 servings) for dinner. Yikes!

So bottom line, each of us gained a little this week. Not a lot. Not anything near where we started, but a little. We're not freaking out about it or anything. It's a good learning experience to see that, yes, our hard work the first week was indeed worth it. And, no, we can't just sit back and relax (literally) and expect to see the same thing happen in week two.

But in better news, I did score a killer deal on this*:

Now that the Mouse is 10 and a half months old, it was probably time to get a stroller, right? (We had been borrowing one from Evelyn's cousin for far too long now.) I found this one, used maybe 3 times before, from a really nice girl on Craigslist. A mere 80 bones later, it was mine! (That might sound like a lot, but it's really not. Especially when you consider that my dream stroller is about six times what I paid for this one.) So far we've tested it out a couple of times, exploring a really nice greenway near Jonathan's office. we're both happy with it so far! The back shocks are wonderful, it's easy to steer, and the handle is height-adjustable, which I love.

If we can just figure out how to make the sun rise at about 5 AM and not set until 9 PM or so, I'll be all set with running on weekdays.

*Dont' worry, buying used is always okay with The Compact. I'll update you on that endeavor sometime this week since I'm at the halfway point!

Great deal on the stroller. I guess it is for marathon practice? Don't give up on the diet! It just takes time. (a lot of time!) Terry
