Her mother's daughter.

Evelyn has been a bit on the serious side since the day we met her. She was probably pretty serious in utero too, but those sonogram pictures don't have the best resolution. I wouldn't say she's an unhappy baby at all. She just doesn't smile without good reason. You have to work for smiles, and you really have to work for laughs*.

I think she gets it from me. I do laugh, and smile, and enjoy life. But I'm not one who just walks around grinning all day (I did this on my wedding day and my face hurt for two solid days following. I guess I need to practice smiling more!).

So, we're okay with having a child who thinks things through before giving her approval (or disapproval). But I do hope that she gets at least a little of her dad's ability to completely relax and think about nothing sometimes.

*Unless you're Linus; then you get free smiles and laughs just for being in the same room. She adores her cousin Linus. And rightfully so!

Like Terry, this picture melts me. And, yes - you are both serious girls, and YES - this is so important when there are people like me running around loose! I love you and cannot wait to see what I get to do to make Evie smile. Three short weeks.... xo

I love your blog. And you're completely amazing---even with mono... way to go with all the baby food making. (And she is getting SO BIG!!!) I'm inspired... well, for the theoretical next time!

Anyways... I just wanted to say that I don't disagree with this at all, but I remember you with a smile, and as someone that smiled a lot! Just sayin' :-)
