We're hanging out at The Red Bicycle, a little coffee shop in Chapel Hill where one can obtain the most delicious and fresh Maple View Farm ice cream.
Why are we hanging out here? Because we're waiting on the labs at UNC to process my last test, measuring my protein output. They said it should be 1-2 hours. That was about 4o minutes ago. So we wait.
We're waiting here instead of going home just in case they tell us to go to UNC or to come back to the Birth Center. Both places have their ways of inducing labor if necessary. UNC's would be more, shall we say, annoying (pitocin).
My blood pressure was still high this afternoon despite resting as much as I could at home. But the bloodwork from yesterday came back fine, so who knows what will happen. I have this suspicion that they'll just tell us to go home and rest some more and they'll wait for me to have other symptoms of preeclampsia or something... but maybe not. If they do send us home, I know that I'll be sending Jonathan back to work tomorrow so he doesn't take days for nothing.
I'll let you know as soon as I know more.
Oh, I did lose the ol' plug this morning, for those in the know. Sorry to those of you who didn't want quite that level of detail but I'm trying to play it straight here. ;) Growing a human can be a messy thing sometimes.
And one last thing I have to document in case I forget it later - Jonathan is snoring SUPER loudly here at the coffee shop. People look over at him sometimes when he makes his semi-scary snoring sounds. But I'm not waking him. I figure the novelty will wear off for the general public, or if they're really annoyed they can wake him.

I wish you all the best, Chelsea! And I know you are probably feeling like you are missing out on the birth that you want. Neither of my births went exactly how I wanted and I do have small regrets about it, but in the end, I have my boys and that's all that matters. Good luck!
