Yesterday was Evelyn's due date. As much as I really, really, really wanted to be finished being pregnant, the thought of two and half weeks of longer periods of sleep did cross my mind yesterday. But then I remembered how awful I felt pretty much every day since August. I'm so glad to have Evelyn out in the world.
And she is growing! I took her to the pediatrician on Friday - it was a last-minute appointment (I didn't know they'd want to see us too, since the Birth Center just saw her for the two-week checkup) so Jonathan wasn't able to go. But Little Mouse gained 6 oz. in two days! I guess all these two-hour feeding marathons are paying off for someone! (Definitely not for me - just look at my red puffy eyes.) Evelyn had her Hep B vaccination and I nearly cried but I held back. She screamed but recovered quickly.
Today my mom and I went to the salon and I got my hair chopped a bit. Then we went to an Irish pub for lunch, and we returned to find Evelyn just waking up and ready to eat. Perfect timing.
This week we only have one appointment - Monday's final follow-up with the lactation consultant! Whatever will I do with all my free time? Oh, right, school. But luckily NC State celebrates Easter and there are no classes on Thursday or Friday this week. I support that.
And before I forget, yes we WILL be cloth diapering. You see all the disposables now for two reasons: 1) Evelyn is still teeny tiny and the cloth diapers even at their smallest settings are ginormous on her right now. 2) With all the feeding issues we had the first couple weeks, we voted to give ourselves a little break and use disposables until we have a little bit more of a routine established and we're not feeling quite so overwhelmed. My goal is to make the cloth switch at around 6 weeks.
Picture stolen from Abby because she takes great pictures. Aren't Evelyn's feet perfect?
