Our first Baby B Poll has closed to the public, and the results are in. 13 votes that there's no Y chromosome, and 10 votes on the other side. It's close. All I know for sure is that roughly half of you will be correct, and then all the scientific reasons you used to determine your vote will be supported by the evidence. We are, of course, openly and unashamedly a bit girl-friendly around our house. We refer to Baby B as "she" and Jonathan talks about his girls regularly when referring to me and the wee one. So none of that "we just want a healthy baby" stuff for us. ;) Well, I mean, of course we do want a healthy baby. A healthy baby girl.

Just kidding.

We do like boys. We have some ridiculously cute and brilliant ones in the family.

But you will now see an updated poll, this time asking you to choose the arrival date of Baby B! No, really. Please tell me when this will happen because I'd like to know. And if you vote for the earlier dates, I'll love you forever. I've got 7ish weeks until the clock strikes 40, and I already feel like real estate is tight in the ol' abdomen.

We had a good appointment this morning. My blood pressure was just a teensy bit higher than I'd like, and I learned that I've now gained a total of 9 lb. since the start of the pregnancy. But we asked lots of questions to the midwife (Allison) and she was quite helpful and forthcoming. She said that they will not as a rule induce just because I'm at 40 weeks, as long as baby and I look healthy. That made me breathe easier. She also said that they'll do "all the midwife tricks" before they'd send us to UNC for those sorts of induction tricks (pitocin, epidural, c-section...). And she encouraged me to get some prenatal massages, try acupuncture at 37 weeks, start evening primrose oil at 36 weeks... Yay! I can't wait to start rushing this baby along. :)

Just kidding, of course.

Kinda.

Well, in the interests of getting something accomplished today, I should wrap up. I'll leave you with a little picture of our house-hunting adventure plan coming up this Saturday. We'll be looking at a bunch of houses all afternoon, in the process narrowing down our list to 2-3 that warrant further consideration. Our dream home number 1, featured here last week, has been taken. So we're starting to get the impression that we might actually have to make an offer if we want to have a house. Hm. We'll see!

If it helps you to get your bearings, we currently live between Durham and Raleigh, near the little "540" sign there where it intersects with 70.
