A friend reminded me this morning that my summer break is halfway over. Yikes. I've been enjoying the break, perhaps too much, but I know that there's real work to be done between now and when school starts in mid-August.
The new blog layout was necessary as the old one suddenly went rogue and couldn't be fixed by even the most adept computer programmer I know. I'll fix this one and add the necessary links and such at some point.
As for the latest happenings on our front, there isn't too much to report. Jonathan is still working, for which we are continually grateful. I am working for a family in the area, providing some companion care for an adolescent girl, and I could not have kinder, more laid-back bosses (the parents). The girl I care for is indescribably happy and I usually leave with a sore face from smiling and laughing all day. She also says things along the lines of "you're missing the moment" if I'm not paying full attention to whatever we're doing, be it watching a movie or listening to a song, and I love that. It reminds me to be present.
We've been gearing up for our quick trip to Kansas next week, wherein we will attempt to visit with friends and family from all over the great state in a rather short amount of time. I am literally writing up a schedule because there's no other way to do it if we are to see everyone. So here's to hoping we make ridiculously good time driving there, because lunch with my family in Lawrence hinges on arriving there with enough time to spare before we have to hit the road again for a wedding rehearsal in Andover. Phew. I get tired just thinking about the trip. But I'm incredibly excited too. In addition to the schedule and list of when and how and where we can see friends and family, I have a list of all the places we must visit while we're in Kansas:
- Anyplace in Lawrence that can give me a large, frosty Boulevard Wheat. Yeah, yeah, we have Blue Moon out here in NC, but man I miss my Boulevard.
- QuickTrip. I had inklings that I may not find a gas station approaching the perfection of QT any other place on earth, but now I have fully realized this truth.
- The Donut Whole.
- Let's Be Frank.
- The Anchor. For Woodchuck and cheese fries.
- NuWay. Regular NuWay, root beer float, and cheese fries.
And considering those last four stops, I think I better hit the gym every day until we go.

And, this would be my most favorite layout ever. Where do you find these?
I cannot wait to see you.
I know your time is going to be extremely tight, but I'd be glad to even see you for a minute and buy you a Wheat (also my fave brew, ever.)
I love you.
One week (ish)... XOXO
