It's like having a dog that slowly learns how to talk.

Raising a puppy is probably quite different from raising a baby. But I have found myself getting really excited about poop, sleep, regular schedules, and the like. I also found myself in tears last night as I listened to her cry and cry in her crate. Jonathan was really patient and calm, which was good. We have been good about being the pack leaders in a few small but important ways: we always go outside and back inside before Olive, she never gets food or free from her crate or a door opened until she is calm, we walk, walk, walk her all day long.

Olive hasn't had any accidents of the poopy kind in the house since her very first evening here. She hasn't had any accidents at all in her crate. She's really excited to play with Sydney, and he's sometimes a little bit into it as well.

And that's the big news around here! We love it so far.

Good old Jonathan- always the calm and collected one. It's good that you're getting this little taste of having a "baby". You are already working on the dynamics of parenting. She's sweet, can't wait to see her again.
