As you may recall, my New Year's Resolution was to "read more books." I added only one stipulation to this vague goal: I would count only books that I started and finished in 2008 (re-reading books I read in previous years was allowed, but I had to read them in full this year as well). So here's the final book report:
1. The Kite Runner
2. The Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills Workbook
3. The Ivy Chronicles
4. The Overachievers
5. Reviving Ophelia: Saving the Selves of Adolescent Girls
6. Head Cases: Stories of Brain Injury and its Aftermath
7. Parenting, Inc.
8. Stolen Innocence: My Story of Growing up in a Polygamous Sect, Becoming a Teenage Bride, and Breaking Free of Warren Jeffs
9. And Sometimes Why
10. The Year of Living Biblically
11. Cheer!: Inside the Secret World of College Cheerleaders
12. I Was Told There'd be Cake
13. Sea Glass
14. The Almost Moon
15. Everything You Need to Know About House Training Puppies & Adult Dogs
16. Chalked Up: Inside Elite Gymnastics' Merciless Coaching, Overzealous Parents, Eating Disorders, and Elusive Olympic Dreams
17. Conjoint Behavioral Consultation: Promoting Family-School Connections and Interventions
18. The Tipping Point: How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference
So there you have it! I'm currently about halfway through two other books, but they won't make the list unless I spend the rest of the day reading.
I met my resolution for 2008!
What's next for 2009? Well, I've resolved to start and keep a gratitude journal. I'll write down at least one thing every day for which I am grateful. Having a quantifiable resolution is risky, but I'll give it a shot.
Happy New Year!
