Our shoes are erasers.

"Our running shoes are really erasers. Every step erases a memory of a past failure. Every mile brings us closer to a clean slate. Each footstrike rubs away a word, a look, or an event, which led us to believe that success is beyond our grasp."
John Bingham

I finished the 2008 Outer Banks Marathon on Sunday afternoon. The race was good. The weather was perfect. I finished. I am proud of myself and thankful for my body. I am strong.

As fulfilling as marathons are (and they really are), I think I might become a 1/2 marathon convert. A friend from school is interested in the Shamrock 1/2 Marathon in Virginia Beach in March, and what better excuse to bust out my Irish green gear and run a few miles?! I haven't decided for sure yet, as we have quite a bit of traveling in our future, but we'll see.

i'm so amazed...another marathon. I mean, i'm sure spending that much time running means you encounter just about every human emotion possible. Is it a self-actualizing experience? I can see that as being good motivation. Next on your list--half marathons until you get to Beijing.

wow!!
