Getting Ready.

I filled my prescriptions for the great wisdom teeth extraction of 2008. Three of them will make me drowsy, one blurs vision, and one says that I shouldn't be in prolonged sunlight when I'm on it - we like to call those my vampire pills.

I've been intrigued at the reactions people have when one says, "I'm having my wisdom teeth extracted." So far I'd say that it's about 50-50 as far as the following stories go. Half of the people had great experiences, recovered quickly, took their medications, and went on their merry ways. The other half woke up during surgery, got dry sockets, got major infections that had to be lanced with no anaesthetic, and/or had a broken jaw.

I'm just hoping I'm in the lucky half!

My extraction got bumped up just a bit today as they were concerned with how long I'd be going without water or food. Surgery is now scheduled for 12:30 on Friday, 12 and a half hours after my last sip of water. :)

What the heck is all that?? My surgeon only gave me 2 prescriptions...loratab or however you spell it and some 600 mg Ibueprofen. Lots and lots of gentle warm salt water swishes, and gauze, and you'll be fine!! Make sure you have some soup on hand for after too... and pudding. I'll be praying for a smooth extraction :)
