We ran eight miles yesterday, which was a nice reprieve after the Frightening Fourteen last week. It was also (finally) pleasantly cool throughout our run. Everyone did well, with my training partners rolling in about 10 minutes before me - which was great because I was stopping to rocket snot onto the ground every so-often so that I could continue to breathe. We enjoyed our traditional breakfast at Elmo's because who really cares if you eat two pancakes and some eggs and bacon after you've spent the morning running?
After we arrived home yesterday I was pretty much down for the count. I've had a mild cold all week and the run really wasn't that tiring in and of itself, but combined with the cold and my recent recurring headaches, I slept for most of the day. Jonathan woke me up with some chicken noodle soup and lemon tea with honey (two of my favorite things when I'm sick) and I tried a little bit before going back to sleep. Of course that means that the laundry isn't done and the house is untidy... but I needed some rest so the trade-off is alright with me.
Today we've been watching the munchkin, our nephew Linus, since mid-morning so his parents could go out on the town. He's been really great and quite tolerant of me not having the energy and enthusiasm I'd like to have today. We walked to the park this morning and he seemed to have more fun walking around the sidewalks than on the play equipment. I especially liked how he would go into bear-crawl mode (from walking) when the hills got too steep. He took a nice long nap and we just hung out... took a walk this evening until Jonathan couldn't take the mosquitoes... and now we're going to read some books and get ready for bed!
