On my list.

Every day I look for jobs at the following places:
  1. IBM
  2. SAS
  3. UNC
  4. Duke
  5. NCSU
  6. City of Durham
  7. Durham County
  8. City of Raleigh
  9. Wake County
  10. NC Public Schools (main site for Durham and Orange counties; separate sites for Chapel Hill-Carrboro and Wake)
  11. indeed.com
  12. dice.com
  13. monster.com
  14. careerbuilder.com
  15. State of NC jobs
  16. NCDOT (not all are listed on state page)
And most days Jonathan submits at least a few applications. It takes a while. It seems like a lot, but then I wonder if I'm missing something. Sometimes I look for small businesses that might not be posting on the major job boards. Sometimes it works and Jonathan applies to a couple more jobs. Is the recession here? Are these places that advertise positions actually hiring?

Well, dear readers, if you can think of any magical job-getting insights that we're missing, any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I don't know if J still has interest in video game design. If so, he should check out any available jobs at http://www.emergent.net ... they have locations in Chapel Hill and RTP.

Also, you might try looking at http://www.worktriangle.com/ for any other job postings that you might miss at the other places.

Josh was part of the hiring team during his time at BD and might be able to offer some constructive criticism since he's seen lots of resumes from the hiring point of view. Email it our way if you'd like him to review it.

One week ago I also joined the ranks of the unemployed. . . I have sent out a handful of applications, but won't begin the real job hunt in earnest until next week. I'm sure I'll have much to commiserate about!

Thanks Amy! And Kristine - best of luck! Amy - I've looked at worktriangle; I check it every now and then. I told Jonathan that Josh could look at his resume, but I don't know if he'll send it that way. It's up to him!

Since I don't know what ya'll actually do this may not be the best suggestion, but I work at Quintiles in RTP and they seem to be hiring at an alarming rate for almost every position. Good luck on the job search!
