MT Week 2

I forgot to let you all know that we completed our first "long run" over the weekend. It was a time run rather than a distance run, so the goal was just to go for 60 minutes. We followed our run/walk pattern with 3 minutes of running followed by 2 minutes of walking for the whole 60 minutes, with a 5 minute walking warmup and cool down. We followed the Quarry Trail, where we found the Neglected Dinosaur Statue (probably not its real name). We all finished the run intact, though I came close to my first wipeout of the training season as we crossed a slick wood bridge on the trail.

Today we had our pre-training timed mile. I clocked in at 12.02. Respectable for me, and it leaves plenty of room for improvement - always a good thing!

Inspirational thought for the day:

"Anybody can do just about anything with himself that he really wants to and makes his mind to do. We are capable of greater than we realize."

- Norman Vincent Peale, author
